Great base for the reef and rainforest
Port Douglas ticks so many boxes. The Great Barrier Reef is right on your doorstep and Four Mile Beach is genuinely stunning. Laid-back town, easy to get around, and the seafood on Macrossan Street is really good.
Four Mile Beach is the real deal
That beach is just ridiculous - long, clean, and barely crowded even in peak season. The whole town has a relaxed feel without being boring. Grabbed a barramundi wrap from one of the spots near the main strip and it was spot on.
Snorkelling here is next level
Took a day trip out to the Outer Reef and the visibility was unreal. Fish and coral everywhere. Port Douglas itself is a really easy town to enjoy - small but has everything you need. Macrossan Street has loads of good dinner options too.
Perfect place to slow down
We came here to properly unwind and it delivered. Four Mile Beach in the morning, cold drink in the afternoon - that's the pace here. The Daintree is just up the road too which adds something pretty special to the trip.
Loved every bit of it
The mix of reef, rainforest and a proper little town makes this place really hard to beat. Macrossan Street has great cafes and the Sunday markets are worth a look. Weather was warm and the locals were friendly and relaxed.
Brilliant tropical escape
Came up from Cairns and honestly Port Douglas felt like a step up. The town is prettier and quieter. Four Mile Beach had barely anyone on it which was wild. Ate really well the whole time - fresh prawns, good coffee, solid wine list.
